Trip to Phuket

Of course, every traveler who is going to one of the most popular resorts in Thailand wants to know how to get comfortably and inexpensively to Phuket. The most popular and convenient way to get to the island from Russia is flying a direct flight. But the flight on the plane is not the cheapest way. We will describe other alternatives of the transport which cost less in our article.

Flights from Russia

If you are going to use the services of a travel agency, the cost of air tickets will already be included in the tour, so you won’t have an opportunity to choose a cheaper option. An exception may be "last minute deals", the cost of which is discounted because of the urgency.

If you fly on your own, it is better to plan a convenient route in advance.

Direct flights to Phuket fly from Moscow and St. Petersburg. The largest number of airlines, such as Emirates, Thai Airways, Etihad, Qatar, Cathay Pacific and S7б, fly from Moscow. Korean Airlines, Hainan Airways and Emirates fly from St. Petersburg.

You can fly with a stop over in one of the Russian cities: Novosibirsk, Irkutsk, Krasnoyarsk, Vladivostok, Yekaterinburg. There are also seasonal, but more expensive flights from Krasnodar, Nizhny Novgorod, Ufa, Samara and Kazan. Sometimes it is cheaper to get to Irkutsk or Moscow and fly direct flight to Phuket from there. Unfortunately, low-costers do not fly from Russia in this direction. But you can fly to Bangkok, Seoul, Penang or Kuala Lumpur and fly by low-coster to Phuket from there.

You can also buy tickets with a stop over in Doha, Qatar, Ashgabat, Abu Dhabi and other cities. The price will be much lower, but usually you’ll have to wait for a long time for the next plane.

How to save money on the cost of tickets?

Every traveler wants to know when it is cheaper to fly to Thailand or Phuket. After all, the prices for air tickets are constantly changing depending on the exchange rates, the season and other factors. But there are small tricks that will help you to cut your transport costs.

It will be cheaper to buy a return ticket from the same airline, as two one-way tickets at one end can cost more expensive.

If you clearly determine the date of departure, you can buy tickets that are not refundable which cost less.

Tickets on flights on weekdays are usually 10-20% cheaper. You should regularly check the sites of airlines, sometimes inexpensive tickets can be posted just one week before departure. You can also check ticket prices on different sites. Sometimes the difference can be significant.

Another possibility to save your money during the high season is to buy a ticket for a charter flight. There are cases when the aircraft is not completely filled, and airlines sell tickets at a low price so that to solve this problem.

Other ways to get to Phuket

You can also use other means of transport besides the aircraft to get to Phuket. For example, you can fly to Bangkok and take a bus from there to Phuket. The journey will take about 10 hours and almost all buses depart in the evening. There are also buses from Ranong, Pattaya and Krabi.

Speed boats regularly cruise from the Koh Samui and Krabi islands. If the weather is good, you’ll get to the resort in a few hours.

How to get from the airport of Phuket to the right place

The transport system in Phuket is quite developed, so you have several variants to choose from.

The cost of a taxi from the airport depends on the distance of your hotel or other place and the number of passengers. The cost of a trip at night (from 11 pm to 6 am) is more expensive for 200 baht. All fees and charges are already included in the cost of services, so any additional surcharges will not be required.

Another convenient way is to rent a car. You can rent a car in advance by e-mail at such companies as Avis, Budget, Hertz and others. Then your car will wait for you right at the airport.

We recommend you to plan your transfer in advance, it will be calmer and more profitable for you than taking the car directly at the airport.

A trip on a minibus will be less expensive. A minibus collects passengers at the airport and takes them to popular beaches and hotels. There are always a lot of people wishing to take a ride, but the transfer by minibus is available only from 8-9 a.m. until 6-7 p.m.

The cheapest transport is the city bus. The bus stop is on the street before the exit of one of the terminals. Buses ride strictly on schedule every hour and make stops near the largest beaches and hotels.

If you plan to visit Phuket, it's better to plan your trip in advance and book tickets at favorable prices. Then your journey will bring you a lot of pleasures and will not be very expensive.
