The rainy season in Phuket - what to do?

The rainy season in Thailand is known for its unpredictable weather and tropical showers. But some travelers still decide to visit the Kingdom because there is always something to do even in bad weather. In our article we'll tell you where to go in Phuket in rainy weather and have a good time.

The wet season also has some benefits because rain brings the long-awaited coolness and the clouds help to hide from the strong sun. Don’t forget that the sun still actively affects the skin, so it is worth using sunscreen.

Sightseeing

If it is raining, this is an excellent occasion to go on a tour to neighboring provinces (Krabi or Phang Nga) or nearby islands where the weather is more pleasant. Tours last for several hours or even the whole day, so the rainfall will definitely stop by the time your return.

There are enough sights in Phuket where you can hide under a roof, for example, a dolphinarium, an oceanarium, a gallery of 3D paintings and much more. History lovers can learn many new and interesting things about the island in the numerous museums of Phuket, such as Talanga, Museum of Mining, Museum of Seashells, Tai Hua Museum and even Upside-down House. In these places unique exhibits will make you forget about the bad weather.

Visiting spa

You can get rid of stress, fill your body with energy, or simply wait for the rain to stop by visiting any of Phuket's spa salons. Thai massage is known all over the world and cosmetic procedures with natural herbs and essential oils will help not only to improve the mood, but to look younger for several years. You can get a complex of spa treatments that will give you 2-3 hours of real bliss and relax.

Beach holiday

A little rain is not a reason to refuse from beach rest. During the rain, the water in the sea is the same as the temperature of the air (the water temperature is about +27 C), so it's very comfortable to swim. You can also play beach sports or go surfing. During the rainy season in Phuket, it is better to choose beaches without large waves, such as Panwa, Nai Harn, Nai Yang or Kata Beach. Remember, if red flags are hung on the coast, it means that swimming is strictly prohibited and unsafe.

Evening shows

Evening shows Siam Niramit, Fantasea, Simon Cabaret or Muay Thai boxing will easily dispel any boredom. Nightclubs in Bangla Road are ready to welcome visitors in any weather. And although in the rain you will not find street tents with souvenirs, in bars and clubs life is still boiling. You can also enjoy Thai cuisine in any nice restaurant or cafe under the roof.

Shopping

Another way to pass the time is to go shopping for souvenirs and gifts. The island has many branded shops and factories with original exotic goods made of reptile leather, latex or pearls. Here you can not only buy gifts, but also learn about the process of production and the history of crafts. Tours include a free transfer from the hotel, so there is no risk of getting wet.

There are even several markets where you can walk in the rain In Phuket, for example, Sunday Market or the Floating Market in Kathu. The street tents full of souvenirs, food, clothes and other goods are hidden under the roof.

In shopping centres such as Central Festival, Jungceylon or Big C you can not only go shopping but also watch a movie, play bowling, eat and even have a massage. Here you can easily spend the whole day with your family.

As you can see, the rainy season in Phuket is not so terrible and the rains will not spoil your holiday. Moreover, tourist activity decreases during this period, the streets are not so crowded, and prices for accommodation are slightly lower. Nevertheless, the entire infrastructure of the island and all tours are open all year round, so you will find easily where to go in Phuket during the rain.

Rain doesn’t scare me. I think nature does not have bad weather. I read that you can go to museums or cafes.
