Phuket International Airport: how to get to a hotel

Phuket International Airport (HKT) is the second largest in passenger traffic after Suvarnabhumi. It is situated in the north of the island, quite far from the main tourist areas. The distance between the airport and popular Phuket beaches: from Patong - 37 km, from Karon - 47 km, from Kata - 48 km.

The airport has two terminals situated in two buildings - for international and domestic flights

In 2016 a new terminal in Phuket International Airport was opened which increased its capacity to 12.5 million passengers per year. However, the passenger traffic already reached this number in 2015.

Near the airport there is Nai Yang Beach and Mai Khao Beach from where you can watch planes taking off and landing.

If you are planning to have an active holiday in Phuket and visit all the beaches and places of interest, you might consider renting a car. It is possible to rent a car at the airport or find a good offer on the Internet in advance. So, you will be able to use a rented car to get to your hotel.

  • renting a car is comfortable and convenient, you won’t depend on a driver or other passengers
  • Disadvantages:
